Rayleigh–Bénard Instability of an Ellis Fluid Saturated Porous Channel with an Isoflux Boundary

چکیده

The onset of the thermal instability is investigated in a porous channel with plane parallel boundaries saturated by non–Newtonian shear–thinning fluid and subject to horizontal throughflow. Ellis model adopted describe rheology. Both are assumed be impermeable. A uniform heat flux supplied through lower boundary, while upper boundary kept at temperature. Such an asymmetric setup conditions analysed via numerical solution linear stability eigenvalue problem. analysis developed for three–dimensional normal modes perturbation showing that transverse most unstable. destabilising effect character also demonstrated as compared behaviour displayed, same flow configuration, Newtonian fluid.

Boundary conditions for a fluid-saturated porous solid

Using Biot's theory, a set of boundary conditions is presented for wave transmission and reflection at the contact surface between an elastic medium (fluid or solid) and a fluid-saturated porous solid (Biot medium). The analysis shows the continuity of the normal component of the density energy flux vectors across the contact surfaces, so that total energy is preserved. Energy reflection and tr...

Elastic Wave Propagation at Imperfect Boundary of Micropolar Elastic Solid and Fluid Saturated Porous Solid Half-Space

This paper deals with the reflection and transmission of elastic waves from imperfect interface separating a micropolar elastic solid half-space and a fluid saturated porous solid half-space. Longitudinal and transverse waves impinge obliquely at the interface. Amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves are obtained and computed numerically for a specific model and results obta...
